MOHAMMED Al Mannai scored the daily high series in Group ‘A’ on Thursday night as qualifying headed into its final week in the 2019 Godfathers Bowling Tournament at Funland Centre.
The event is being held in memory of the late Murtadha Qudrat Rasti and the late Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.
Al Mannai registered a score of 703 pins for his second-best trial of the tournament to date. His other top series were 706 and 670.
He managed to raise his average to 231.0 and total to 2,079 to climb to fourth place among elite bowlers.
Abdulla Abdulkarim continued to lead with a 238.6 average and a 2,147 total. He is followed by Emerson Gotencio with marks of 235.4 and 2,119, while Dante Tisdom is third with 233.8 and 2,104.
Classified behind Al Mannai were Fawaz Abdulla, Ahmed Fareed, Ahmed Al Gaoud and Ahmed Alkhaja in the top eight.
Trial
Meanwhile, Mustafa Qaed was the high series winner in Group ‘B’ with a 726.
His latest trial was his best and it cemented his hold of first place in his class which features intermediate bowlers.
Qaed added to his other top series of 690 and 660, bringing his average to 230.7 and a 2,076 total.
Abdulrahman Alali followed in second with 224.0 and 2,106 and Mohammed Mahmoud third with 222.1 and 1,999.
Rounding out the best eight were Abdulla Almurbati, Ali Abdulla, Essa Taqi, Patrick Toney and Mohammed Alansari.
In Group ‘C’ for beginning bowlers, leader Hisham Mohammed had the high series of 596 pins.
It was his best trial with his other top scores being 577 and 570. Mohammed improved his average to 193.7 and total to 1,743 to consolidate his first place.
Leah Siruno climbed to second with 184.3 and 1,659 while Layla Janahi followed in third with 181.8 and 1,636.
Ahmed Refacs, AJ Edwards, Ali Mahmoud, Maricel Sultan and Ahmed Alansari were ranked fourth through eighth in their division.
The qualification round continues till Wednesday, May 29. At the end of this stage, the first and second from each group advance directly to Round Three while those ranked third through 12th move on to Round Two.
These stages will be played on May 30 and 31 along with the ensuing step-ladder final round.
A total of BD4,400 in prizes are up for grabs with BD1,000 going to the overall champion. Cash prizes will also be awarded to those finishing in the top 18, as well as the first scorer of a perfect game.
