Bahrain athletes made a promising start by capturing four medals at the 13th Tunisia International Paralympics Athletics Meeting yesterday.
Mariam Al Hmeedi won the first gold medal for Bahrain in the shot put event with a distance of 8.64 metres.
Roba Al Amri bagged silver at the discus throw (20.10 metres), while the bronze went to Zahra Al Kulaib (19.75 metres). Bahrain’s other bronze came from Nassar Al Mreesi in the wheel-chair 800-metre event (2.07.93).
The tournament is part of the World Paralympics Athletics Grand Prix 2019 where players representing 45 countries from around the world are taking part.
