Strong relations between Bahrain and the UK were in spotlight as Bahrain’s Embassy in the UK yesterday held its annual ceremony for the Bahrain-UK All-Party Parliamentary Group and the Bahrain-British Friendship Society, under the patronage of Ambassador Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.
Minister of State for Middle East Affairs Dr Andrew Morrison, Shadow Minister for Peace and Disarmament Fabian Hamilton, Shadow Minister for European Affairs Khalid Mahmood, former Minister of State for Middle East Affairs Alistair Burt, MPs, media figures and top politicians attended.
Ambassador Shaikh Fawaz expressed pride in Bahrain-UK ties, noting the role of the association in promoting Bahrain in all fields.
Bahrain-UK Parliamentary Group chair Bob Stewart expressed his pride in his association with Bahrain that dates back 50 years, stressing the importance of strategic relations between the two kingdoms.
He also affirmed keenness to further develop co-operation to achieve the aspirations of both countries.
The ceremony was attended by a number of MPs from the House of Commons and the House of Lords, including group vice chair Conor Burns, former Deputy Speaker of House of Commons Nigel Evans, Lord Astor, MP Rehman Chishti, MP Afzal Khan, Baroness Morris, MP David Jones and Sir Jeffrey Donaldson.
British figures including Sir Geoffrey Tantum, Robert Goodman, Bahrain-British Friendship Society chairman Brigadier Peter Sincock, and other members of the society were also present.
