MANAMA: More than 40 Bahraini ICT companies will showcase their products at Bahrain’s pavilion at Gitex 2019, announced Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTECH).
The event will also feature the participation of 20 Bahraini ICT entrepreneurs. BTECH and leading events management company, WorkSmart, joined hands to set up the Bahrain pavilion at the biggest Technology exhibition in Mena and South Asia, Gitex, from October 6 to 10, at Dubai World Trade Centre.
“Participation in Gitex reflects the development of the ICT sector in Bahrain,” said BTECH president Ubaidly Al Ubaidly, paying tribute to Tamkeen for its support for Bahrain’s pavilion at Gitex over the past 12 years.
“Through Gitex we can look at the latest developments in the global technology sector, enter into fruitful deals and partnerships and explore the best ways to develop companies in Bahrain for its services and products in accordance with international standards and regional market needs.”
Speaking at a seminar organised by BTECH, which was attended by supporters and participants of the Bahrain pavilion at Gitex, Mr Al Ubaidly said that the pavilion is a good platform for development and shows the ICT sector’s growth strategies in the presence of stakeholders from public and private sectors.
“We have recently seen Amazon in Bahrain as a regional base, and we expect this to be a major breakthrough in the ICT sector, especially in terms of bringing and localising global expertise in the fields of cloud computing, major data and more.”
Senior BTECH adviser Ahmed Al Hujairi said the meeting along with the supporters, partners and exhibitors aims to promote Bahraini participation in the event.
“It is essential we meet everyone to discuss opportunities and how to strengthen Bahrain’s presence at the biggest technology event in Dubai.
“We were very pleased with Bahraini participants in the previous Gitex, and we look forward to working together to integrate the services and products of the IT sector in Bahrain, enabling us to enhance the competitiveness of this sector locally and regionally.
“We believe that Gitex is one of the best platforms to meet annually and discuss the prospects of developing Bahrain’s technology sector according to the latest global trends,” he added.
