A FORUM aiming to promote Bahrain as a destination for medical tourism in the region will be held later this year in the kingdom.
The Business Development Forums Expo 2019 (BDFEX) under the patronage of Supreme Council for Health chairman Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa will be held on October 23 and 24 at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel and Spa.
The event is organised by ProAct International Consultancy and United Gulf Industrial Consortia for Investment and Consultation.
According to the organisers the forum will explore and encourage more national industries in the field of health, including the manufacture of medicines, equipment and medical supplies to provide the requirements of health facilities for hospitals, centres, clinics and pharmacies in Bahrain and GCC countries.
It will also attract foreign investments in this field, and thus contribute to achieving what is known as “drug security” and to promote economic growth.
“This forum is in compliance with the objectives of the vision of Bahrain 2030, regards to the direction towards knowledge economy and investing Bahrain’s human and scientific potentials in the development of the national economy and increasing GDP,” said ProAct general manager Dr Khalid Bomtaia.
“It aims to support the pharmaceutical industry, medical and health supplies, IT sector through investing the best information systems in this industry, and tourism sector through enhancing medical tourism and making Bahrain a destination for this tourism in the region.”
