BAHRAINI male models will get a chance to strut on the international stage as a major competition makes its debut in the country.
The Bahrain leg of the contest is part of the prestigious annual male beauty pageant Manhunt International, conceived in 1993 by Metromedia and Procon Leisure International.
Qualifying rounds of the Manhunt Bahrain International 2019 started last night as the event was launched at The Beats Lounge, The Arch Hotel, Juffair.
Offering men a global platform to showcase their talent, the first-ever Manhunt International World Final was held in Australia in 1993 with 25 contestants.
The competition features outdoor activities, thrilling events, public presentations, talent competitions, fun routines, and even a chance to meet and impress ladies.
Contestants are judged on their catwalk and runway skills, photogenic ability, personality, and physical attributes.
Manhunt International promotes new faces for the male modelling and fashion industry and encourages participants to become role models and good corporate citizens for younger people to look up to.
Today, Manhunt International is easily one of the world’s most recognised and longest-running international male model contest.
Several countries have hosted the international pageant in the past including Australia, Singapore, the Philippines, China, Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
Staged in two rounds the competition has a preliminary and final round where contestants are judged in national costume, swimwear, evening wear and fashion wear.
The contestants with the highest scores are named to the finals and the final decision to determine the winners are made by the judges.
Several other awards are also up for grabs such as best in national costume, best runway model, mister photogenic, mister friendship, mister personality, mister physique and mister popularity (voted by the public via social media).
Since its 2005 edition, Manhunt International has also distributed five continental awards to the best representatives of each continent and since 2007, the winner of Mister Popularity automatically advances to the final round.
Those interested in taking part in the competition should be Bahraini nationals aged between 18 to 35 and at least 5 feet 11 inches tall.
They may be single or married with modelling experience, and should also be photogenic, have a good physique (not bodybuilder’s), good personality, strong, enthusiastic and have an attractive character. Qualifying rounds for Manhunt Bahrain 2019 will continue to be held at The Beats lounge, next Saturday, August 31 and September 7.
The finalist presentation will take place on September 14, followed by presentations of the various costumes and looks in the upcoming weeks.
Winners will be announced at the grand finale which will be held on November 2 and the title winner will represent Bahrain on the international stage in February next year.
The winner will also receive a cash prize of $1,000 and a return air ticket to Manila, the Philippines, where the competition will be held.
Up for grabs for the first runner-up is $500 in cash while the second runner-up will win $250.
All three winners will also receive a trophy and certificates.
