The Kerala Catholic Association (KCA), which was established five decades ago, is celebrating its Golden Jubilee until next year.
KCA is one of the most vibrant and prestigious expatriate organisations in Bahrain, well known for its sports, cultural and charity activities, often referred to as the ‘Family Club of Bahrain’.
The club provides its members facilities for volleyball, badminton, karate, indoor games, educational activities, weekend entertainment programmes, various dance forms, Malayalam prasangavedi, yoga and Malayalam classes, and Toastmasters, gavels, photography, drama and music clubs.
As a prelude to the Golden Jubilee activities, a charity banquet was held at the Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea and Spa on March 14 and a mega dandiya with 130 participants on April 4.
The Golden Jubilee official inauguration was held on May 3 at Golden Tulip Hotel and chief guest was Thodupuzha MLA and former minister of Kerala P J Joseph.
As part of its celebrations, the association also organised the KCA Magnum Imprint Sargotsav 2019, its annual festival of art, literary and sports competitions, with around 120 competitions conducted exclusively for its members and associate members in April and June.
KCA plans to organise ‘Onam Ponnonam’ in a grand manner from September 5 to 20, the grand inauguration of which will be held on September 5 at the KCA premises in Manama with a colourful ‘ghoshayatra’ and variety of cultural programmes.
On September 13, the KCA Onam mahasadya will be served under its charity wing for more than 1,000 workers from various labour camps, members and guests.
Various competitions will also be held including pookkalam, tug of war, payasam and Onam group song, with cash prizes and
trophies awarded to the winners.
On September 14, a number of programmes will be held, including a Ganamela with live orchestra, games/sports competitions, along with a KCA family meet and Onakkazhcha on September 19.
The celebrations will culminate with an Onam Grand Finale and KCA Mangnum Imprint Sargotsav Finale which will host a variety of cultural programmes and prize distribution on September 20 in the presence of lyricist, director, producer and screenwriter in Malayalam cinema, Sreekumaran Thampi, who will be the chief guest.
KCA will also host its International Volleyball Tournament on October 4, for which registration has already begun. Its flagship event, the Indian Talent Scan is also coming up with new features, and the year-long celebrations will include more charity activities, health awareness programmes, mega cultural events and art, cultural and educational events for children.
KCA has immense pleasure to welcome the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
