Manama: His Majesty King Hamad last night returned to Bahrain following his visits to France and Spain.
He was welcomed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.
His Majesty met former Spanish monarch Juan Carlos in Madrid and was reassured about his health.
Earlier, the King attended the conclusion of the 2019 Ironman 70.3 World Championship held in Nice, France, with the participation of the Bahrain endurance team and athletes from various countries. The King was welcomed on arrival by Mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi and senior officials. He watched part of the competition.
His Majesty’s representative for charity work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa briefed the King on Bahrain endurance team’s participation in the championship.
The King lauded solid relations between Bahrain and France, especially in the youth and sports fields.
He congratulated Bahrain’s endurance team on winning the first and second places in the championship – praising their determination and achievements throughout the event.
He commended Shaikh Nasser, and SCYS first deputy chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for encouraging Bahraini youngsters to participate in such events and lift the national flag at various gatherings. The King wished all the competitors further success.

His Majesty is received by the Crown Prince
