MANAMA: Gulf International Bank (GIB) has won eight honours at Global Finance’s Digital Banks and Innovators Awards.
Meem, GIB’s Sharia-compliant digital retail bank, bagged six awards and the bank’s Global Transaction Banking (GTB) business won two during a ceremony held at the Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Financial Centre.
Meem by GIB was named the Bahrain Country Winner under the World’s Best Islamic Digital Banks 2019 category and also the Best Consumer Digital Bank, the Best in Mobile Banking, the Best Mobile Banking App, Best in Social Media Marketing and Services and the Most Innovative all under the Bahrain Country Winner for World’s Best Consumer Digital Banks Middle East 2019 category.
GIB’s Global Transaction Banking received the World’s Best Corporate/Institutional Digital Bank Middle East 2019 for Best Online Cash Management Bahrain and Best Opening Banking API Bahrain.
The awards were accepted on behalf of GIB by the group head of wholesale banking Khaled Abbas, chief digital officer Andreas Skopal and head of global transaction banking Gurumurthy Palani.
