Abu Dhabi: Expatriates working in the UAE remitted money back home worth AED80.96 billion during the first six months of 2019 (H1 – 2019), according to figures released by the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates.
A total of AED33.046bn was transferred through money exchange companies and the rest from banks operating in the country.
India took the crown as the top-receiving country for earnings made by migrants, comprising 37.2 per cent of the total remittances during Q2.
Indians were followed by Pakistani beneficiaries, comprising 10.5pc, Filipinos 7.2pc, Egyptians 6.3pc, UK nationals 3.8pc, Bangladeshis, 3.7pc, US nationals 3.3pc, Jordanians 2.6pc, the Swiss 2.2pc and finally Chinese 1.5pc, WAM reported.
