A secret Wisconsin inmate reportedly confessed to the killing of Teresa Halbach, the murder victim whose mysterious death was the reason for the famous Netflix documentary series 'Making a Murderer'.
According to reports, the inmate who is serving time for a different killing admitted to having murdered Teresa Halback in a taped interview.
The interview was with filmmakers of another documentary ‘Convicting a Murderer'
Shawn Rech, director of 'Convicting a Murderer' couldn’t confirm the legitimacy of the confession. It is currently being verified by the police.
Rech told Newsweek, ‘'Seeing as it was given by a notable convicted murderer from Wisconsin, we feel responsible to deliver any and all possible evidence to law enforcement and legal teams.”
If the confession is legitimate, Steven Avery, 67, and his nephew Brendan Dassey, 29, could be exonerated.
The two men have spent more than a decade in jail after being convicted for 2005 murder of Terresa Halbach and have maintained their innocence since standing trial in 2007.
The 2016 Netflix documentary 'Making a Murderer' gave people an insight into Avery and Dassey's case and created a cult following for the show.
