People who have visited Tehran say they have observed big posters of the Ayatollah, the regime head, and billboards of ‘Death to America’, decorating the main streets. However, recent Iranian action including bombing of the Saudi Aramco oil installation has made America great in two ways.
First, the attack on the oil installation has temporarily disrupted oil supply and the market witnessed a big price increase. In fact according to the Daily Telegraph of September 17, ‘Brent crude soared as much as 20 per cent at one stage, hitting a high of almost $72 a barrel in the biggest one-day rise since the Gulf War in 1991, before retreating to just under $69’.
As the Saudi oil supply was in short supply, the American oil filled the missing gap. The US oil dominated the market, with unprecedented advantage and generated huge income within a short period. In fact, the US crude exporters were short of tankers to cover the rising demand.
Second, the incident created a wake-up call for the GCC countries to take serious security measures to protect their oil installations and buy protective mechanisms including Patriot missile systems that have the potential to deter missile and attack drone. These defence missiles are expensive and purchased by GCC countries that generated billions of dollars to the US.
At the end of the day, the US is gaining financial advantages due to the political and military chaos created by Iran. Do the regime in Iran understand that their actions are making America great contrary to what their posters in the streets of Tehran say? Clearly, the regime has mismatched its words and actions.
Iran has been investing on developing drones, missiles and other advanced technology since the late 60s and early 70s, when much of the GCC economy was at the early stage of its development. It sent its best students to Western universities to study nuclear physics, and related fields that can help build missiles and drones.
Therefore, it should not be a surprise if it owns knowledge of nuclear science and potential of manufacturing ballistic missiles and drones that its proxy militias are now using to target Saudi Arabia. By creating chaos in the region, the Iranian regime is making America great again by providing market advantages for its military wares and oil exports.
