MANAMA: Tamkeen has signed an agreement with Huawei to launch a new internship programme that brings global technology expertise to more individuals across Bahrain.
The agreement was signed by Tamkeen chief executive Dr Ebrahim Janahi and John Lu Yuedong, CEO of Huawei Technologies Bahrain during Bahrain Pavilion’s participation in Gitex 2019 in Dubai.
The agreement seeks to empower Bahraini university students and fresh graduates to apply real-world applications of their studies while preparing for a career in the technology field.
The programme that welcomes recent graduates and job-seekers will start with a six-month job training course in which participants will be placed in various departments of Huawei’s Bahrain office based on their professional interests.
The internships will initially focus on technical engineering, customer support, IT management and more.
The goal is that participants by the end of the programme are job-ready and have a competitive edge in developing their careers further.
A total of eight internships are being offered in the first round of the programme.
Dr Janahi said: “It is our duty to be catalysts of progress in this dynamic technological era, realising the potential of every Bahraini while diversifying our economy in alignment with Vision 2030. We are proud to be working with Huawei in this regard and commend them for supporting the youth of Bahrain to be prepared for the careers of tomorrow.”
According to Mr Yuedong, through joint training and innovation programmes with local partners like Tamkeen, Huawei aims to expand the value of ICT and create a more robust digital ecosystem in Bahrain.
“We believe that the human talent of this industry will be pivotal to supporting Bahrain’s national vision for long-term economic competitiveness and social prosperity,” he added.
