MANAMA: The Bahrain International Property Exhibition (Bipex) 2019 is partnering with Bahrain FinTech Bay (BFB), Mena’s largest fintech hub, to launch the proptech hackathon for university students and real estate industry experts.
The objective is to highlight cutting edge solutions to challenges faced by real estate companies in the region.
This initiative is expected to gather major real estate stakeholders, encouraging the development of prototype solutions through a series of specialised mentorship sessions addressed by some of the experts, advisors and regulators.
The proptech hackathon will run for three days at the end of which students will present their final ideas to a judging panel comprised of industry experts.
Participating teams will brainstorm ideas and be exposed to a one-on-one mentorship sessions by various knowledge partners assisting them in completing their final pitches.
In the final stage, teams will pitch their innovative solutions for the opportunity to win three cash prizes.
The 12th edition of the Bahrain International Exhibition (BIPEX) has been officially launched with a revamped brand identity and strategic direction.
Taking place under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the three-day event from December 7 to 9 at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre will highlight innovation and digital solutions for the real estate sector.
Commenting on the partnership, Bipex chairman Mohammed Al Sayed said, “Our partnership with the Bahrain FinTech Bay is in line with our 2019 edition, and its new strategic direction. We have always emphasised that Bipex is a platform to exchange and promote ideas, in addition to showcasing the prime real estate developments in Bahrain. The proptech hackathon will be an opportunity to involve real estate industry experts and the youth to share their solutions and strategies for the future. We have a commitment towards innovation and strengthening the ecosystem.”
BFB chief executive Khalid Saad said industries including real estate are rapidly transforming as the pace of technological development increases.
“The hackathon aims to be the platform where different stakeholders in the real estate and technology industries exchange knowledge, ideas and collaboratively address industry challenges.”
