THE Bahrain Under-16 team will be leaving today for Oman to participate in the Asian Cricket Council Under-16 West Region Tournament starting on Monday.
Official tour uniforms and national caps were awarded to the players at a ceremony at Alba Club in presence of Cricket Bahrain Association officials, sponsors and parents of the cricketers.
CBA secretary general Yasser Zafar handed over the caps to the cricketers and thanked the sponsors Royal Bahrain Hospital, Excelon and Al Namal Group for their support.
The Bahrain colts have been going through rigorous training at the Alba Club for the last four months under the supervision of national coach Azeem-Ul-Haque and his assistants Omran Ghani, Tahir Ansari and Prachur Shukla.
The Bahrain team is in Group ‘A’ along with Saudi Arabia, UAE and Iran while Group ‘B’ consists of hosts Oman, Qatar, Maldives and Kuwait.
Bahrain take on UAE on Monday, Saudi Arabia on Wednesday and Iran on Friday.
Qualify
Each team will play the others in their group in 35-over round-robin matches and the top two qualify for the semi-finals to be held on October 28 and the final is set for the next day.
Bahrain Under-16 team: Hamza Riaz Mohammad, Adnan Mushtaq Ahmed, Aum Umeshchandra, Ayaan Baig Khan, Shashank Shekhar Shukla, Wajahat Rehman, Haniel Asir Robert, Adeel Asif Majeed, Ansh Katyayan, Jayshnav Ravishankar, Aaryan Koul, Abdullah Umer Hayat, Rishabh Ramesh and Fazeel Ahmed.
Reserves: Adbulla Mohamed Eftekhar, Hamza Murtaza, Hamid Mohammad Raza and Ethan Anthony Sequeira.
