Oryx Rotana, a five-star luxury business hotel in Doha, has launched a series of initiatives to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer.
The events are held as part of October Breast Cancer Awareness month, a worldwide annual campaign involving thousands of organisations, to highlight the importance of being educated about breast cancer as well as proper research.
Under Oryx Rotana’s Corporate Social Responsibility umbrella, the hotel is joining hands with Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) in “Walk to Support” event on October 25, under ‘Blossom' campaign that the charity launched to raise awareness about this disease and remind the importance of early detection.
According to the latest Qatar National Cancer Registry (QNCR) - Ministry of Public Health in Qatar, in 2016 there were 266 breast cancer newly diagnosed cases in the country, 3% of all newly diagnosed cases in the same year were males, 97% were females whereas 25.94% of the newly diagnosed cases in the same year were Qataris and 74.06% non-Qataris.
Furthermore, the hotel organised different activities for its employees and hotel guests such as Breast Cancer lecture, free Pink Zumba class arranged by Bodylines Fitness & Wellness Club, Saturday Lazy Pink Brunch at ‘The Cellar’, Oryx Rotana’s award-winning restaurant while the ‘Sky Lounge’ has introduced several menu items in pink throughout the month. -TradeArabia News Service
