THE 2019 Big Draw Festival makes its Bahrain debut this weekend.
Organised by Baloo’s Buddies at RIA Institute Bahrain in Adliya, the free event is a hands-on art activity for all ages and abilities, designed to highlight the link between creativity and well-being.
Participants will help make a large walkway out of pottery, a series of tactile finger pathways with buttons, shells and bottle tops, and their own labyrinth pathway on paper.
In the run-up to the event, more than 1,000 pieces of pottery, donated by Delmon Pottery have been painted by both young and old across Bahrain.
Together, the pottery pieces will form an accessible walkway in the form of a labyrinth designed by Bahraini artist Mohammed Taha.
The event will also celebrate International Artists Day (which is marked on October 25) when 20 local and international artists will join Baloo’s Buddies at The Big Draw to paint their interpretation of the festival theme, ‘Drawn to Life: Creativity and Wellbeing’.
Event participation is free and no registration is required except for groups greater than four participants.
Spaces are limited for the festival, which will be held from tomorrow until Saturday and the special event will be held at The Avenues Bahrain’s gate three, from 10am to 8pm.
