Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad, the closing ceremony of the second edition of the Nasser bin Hamad Marine Heritage Season will be held at Bahrain National Museum today.
The season, which started on August 3, is organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee’s Popular Heritage Sports Committee.
The King will watch the Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad’s Cup 3,000m boat race for the elite and another 2,000m for the public.
The King’s representative for charity work and youth affairs, National Security Adviser and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa thanked the King for patronising the ceremony.
Heritage sports are an integral part of the national identity, he said, adding that His Majesty’s patronage aims to preserve Bahrain’s rich marine heritage.
The ceremony will feature a host of events, such as folk shows, handicrafts and a boat show.
