MINISTER of Youth and Sports Aymen Almoayed yesterday inaugurated the Elements Jiu Jitsu Academy, a specialised jiu jitsu centre, in Tubli.
The minister toured the academy in presence of Elements JJ co-owner, head coach and jiu jitsu world champion Ali Monfaradi and discussed the academy’s plans to strengthen the level of jiu jitsu in Bahrain and provide a platform for athletes to excel on the international stage.
The academy boasts of an open space layout with a large jiu jitsu mat area that is utilised for ‘gi’ and ‘nogi’ classes for both advanced practitioners and beginners.
The Elements JJ members can also access a dedicated gym area that provides personal training sessions and group fitness classes by certified trainers.
Monfaradi has numerous historic achievements to his credit over the course of his career as a leading Bahraini athlete on the international stage.
Monfaradi became the first GCC athlete to win a gold medal at the IBJJF World Championship and his more recent achievements include winning gold at the 2018 Asian Indoor Games and the 2019 European No-gi Championship.
Monfaradi yesterday thanked His Majesty King Hamad, Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty for Charity Works and Youth Affairs and chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president, and minister Almoayed for their continuous support of Bahraini athletes and creating an environment for professionals to succeed.
“I’m very excited to play a role in elevating and diversifying the martial arts scene in the GCC through Elements Academy,” said Monfaradi.
“I aim to create a platform where I can share my experiences and bring an international level of coaching to Bahrain and further the Kingdom’s stance as the region’s hub for excellence in sports.”
Elements JJ is located in Tubli and is open six days a week. The academy offers beginners and advanced jiu jitsu classes as well as a kids’ programme for children aged seven years and above.
