Kuwait: Kuwait has nominated current Finance Minister Nayef Al Hajraf to take over as Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General.
He will be replacing incumbent GCC Secretary-General Bahraini Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani, who served two terms.
The minister is expected to tender his resignation today, ahead of his official appointment as GCC chief.
Dr Al Hajraf is a holder of a PhD degree in accounting from Hull University in the United Kingdom.
He held key positions in the government and served respectively as minister of education, oil and finance.
He was also appointed as chairman of the Kuwait Stock Exchange market, a post he held from 2014 until 2017.
If confirmed GCC Secretary-General, Al Hajraf will have to deal with complex dossiers, particularly the GCC rift.
