FORMER Radio Bahrain Breakfast Show host Krazy Kevin Howarth has won the title of the loudest crier in the world.
His 101.7-decibel, ear-splitting cry earned him fourth place in the overall World Invitational Town Crier tournament last month.
“I did 100.4 in the first one against Australia’s finest, but then in the world contest I hit 101.7, which they say is equivalent to a chainsaw,” Mr Howarth told GDNonline.
The UK-born DJ, who also hosted the Drive Time Show during his stint at Radio Bahrain, moved to Toowoomba in Queensland at the start of 2011 to live closer to family.
The 62-year-old previously won two
titles at the Australian Guild Town Criers’ 30th anniversary championships.
Mr Howarth was appointed as the Toowoomba town crier and honorary ambassador on January 24, 2017 for the period January 25, 2017 until March 31, 2020.
As the town crier, he represents the region and its people in the council’s official costume, reading proclamations at public functions determined by the mayor’s office.
He has worked as a DJ, compere and master of ceremonies in Italy, Germany, Iceland, Holland, Hong Kong and Dubai before arriving in Bahrain in 1999.
