Bahraini athletes are competing in the ninth World Para Athletics Championships which has opened in Dubai under the patronage of Dubai Crown Prince Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
More than 1400 atlhletes representing 122 countries are competing in 172 events.
Bahrain Paralympic Committee chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa joined other delegations which attended the opening ceremony.
Bahraini Amal Al Fardan competed in the javelin throw (category F54), reaching 10.32 metres in her fifth attempt.
In shot put (category F34), Abdulla Al-Shawi finished sixth in his group after reaching 7.06 metres.
Athlete Alyas Alyasi who was injured failed to qualify of the 400 metre race (category T47).
