The 2019 Gulf Co-operation Council Forensics Evidence Conference and Exhibition will open in Bahrain on Wednesday.
The two-day event will be held at the Gulf Hotel under the patronage of Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.
Leading experts and coroners from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt and the US will attend, along with industry leaders representing 35 firms specialising in forensics and security to showcase their cutting-edge invented technologies.
Organised by the Interior Ministry, the conference lines up 28 plenary discussion sessions that debate key issues.
The opening session will highlight the strategy of the forensics lab in confronting terror cases in Bahrain.
The conference will also focus on fast-tracking work at forensics labs, the establishment of forensic and biological labs, complex cases of suicide.
Another session will be themed “Virtual alternative to a traditional autopsy ... has it become a necessity in Bahrain?”.
The conference will also highlight common mistakes which occur in death certificates issued by hospitals in the region.
The sessions scheduled for the second day will focus on combating human trafficking in Bahrain, by Liverpool Centre for Advanced Police Studies director Dr Daniel Silverstone, the medical aspects of human trafficking and other issues.
