Contemporary, refined and assertive, the new Alpine Eagle sports chic timepiece collection is a state-of-the-art reinterpretation of the St. Moritz, the first watch created in 1980 by Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, now co-president of Chopard.
Imagined and personally designed by him, Alpine Eagle is driven by his passion for the Alps and by the lofty power of the eagle that reigns supreme there.
Drawing on his creative strength and his passion for the Alps, but also on Louis Sullivan’s principles of harmony which dictate the “form follows function”, Mr Scheufele has created a new collection: the Alpine Eagle.
Its rock-like textured dial evokes an eagle’s iris, its hands call to mind the raptor’s feathers and the cold glinting steel is reminiscent of glaciers.
Issued from the time of its launch in 10 references in steel, gold, bi-material of diamond-set gold, Alpine Eagle is a particularly rich collection, available in unisex models in two different 41mm and 36mm diameters.
To bring the Alpine Eagle purpose to life, Chopard has created a new material that is as rich, precious and complex as gold, transforming the dream of Renaissance alchemists into glowing reality.
The industrialisation of this new alloy, Lucent Steel A223, required no less than four years and research and development to produce, was a real challenge to manufacture to extremely strict specifications and is now a rare and extraordinarily precious metal.
Meanwhile, the Chopard Haute Joaillerie ateliers, who carefully craft creations to highlight gems by revealing their true magnificence, have created an original jewellery set composed of a necklace, a ring and a pair of earrings set in 18-carat gold with 10 yellow diamonds totalling more than 38 carats.
For this set of 10 yellow diamonds, Chopard’s co-president and artistic director Caroline Scheufele matched the white and yellow 18-carat gold mountings with likewise white and yellow pear shaped diamonds.
Also born in the workshops of Chopard’s Manufacture is the L.U.C XPS Spirit of Nature timepiece as an ode to the beauty, strength and regenerative capacity of the forest.
The dials, colours, ethical ‘fairmined’ certified gold case and vegetable-tanned bracelet of the 100-piece limited edition model, adorned with a leaf motif, guarantee the Maison’s respect for the environment.
The L.U.C XPS Spirit of Nature is carved from a block of ethical ‘fairmined’ certified gold that is mined responsibly in artisanal mines, in which miners and the environment are properly treated and to which Chopard pays a special premium.
Finally, with the Mille Miglia GTS Power Control, Chopard unveils a new, limited edition watch inspired by the evocative world of classic automobiles.
Featuring a 43mm two-tone steel and 18-carat ethical rose gold case, the Mille Miglia GTS Power Control is endowed with a chronometer-certified, self-winding movement offering 60 hours of power reserve, and a dial and strap recalling the tones of historic competition cars.
Limited to just 500 watches worldwide, the two-tone Mille Miglia GTS Power Control features an exhibition case back carrying the inscription ‘Brescia-Rome-Brescia’ as a reminder of the 1,000 mile loop that makes up the most beautiful race in the world.
Pieces will be showcased at the Middle East’s leading jewellery and watches exhibition, Jewellery Arabia, which opens today and will continue until November 23 at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre.
