AMH Amwaj 2 and Al Hawaj grabbed the honours on the second day of the 22nd Annual Island Classic Golf Tournament.
This prestigious event is being held at His Majesty King Hamad’s private golf course in Saffiya and under his patronage.
“The excitement level is very high with all the teams trying their best to win this coveted title. There are two flights – the Championship and the Premier - and we will have three winning teams from each flight,” said Dr George Cheriyan, CEO-CMO of American Mission Hospital.
“The logic of having two different flights is to ensure that every team has a chance at winning the titles irrespective of their handicaps,”
The teams participating on the second day included AMH Manama 2; Bahrain Confidential; EK Kanoo 2; AMH Riffa 2; Aer Rianta International; AMH Saar 2; Deeko Bahrain; Gulf Air 1; AMH Aali 2; Al Hawaj 2; AMH Amwaj 2; Royal Golf Club 3; Royal Golf Club 4; YK Almoayyed 1; Ramee Grand 2 and Cake Boutique.
AMH Amwaj 2 finished the day with the best score of 57.4 net in the Premier Flight (average handicap 6.1 or over) while E K Kanoo 2 were second on 58.1 and AMH Aali 2 third on 59.1.
In the Championship flight (average handicap 6 or under), Al Hawaj 2 finished with the best score of 53.4 net while Bahrain Confidential (53.8) were second and AMH Riffa 2 (57.9) third.
After two days of competition, Independent US Embassy top the leaderboard with 54.2 net while AMH Amwaj (57.4) are second and RCSI 1 (57.8) third.
In the Championship Flight, Al Hawaj 2 (53.4) are at the top of the leaderboard while Bahrain Confidential (53.8) are second and Al Hawaj 1 (54.8) third.
Prizes for the Championship Flights and Premier Flights will be presented to the overall winning teams following the full three days of play at an event to be held at the Diplomat RadissonBlu Hotel and Spa .
The three-day tournament concludes today.
