NAYEF Hassan Al Boluchi of Al Zaeem Studs yesterday won the season opening endurance race held over 120kms at the Endurance Village.
Dana Al Binghadeer and Othman Al Awadhi finished second and third respectively.
The winner clocked four hours, 29 minutes and 46 seconds, only one minute ahead of the runner-up. Al Awadhi, meanwhile, was seven minutes behind second-placed Al Binghadeer.
His Majesty the King’s representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council of Youth and Sports chairman and Bahrain Royal Endurance and Equestrian Federation (Breef) honorary president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa deputised Breef president Shaikh Isa bin Abdullah Al Khalifa to honour the winners.
Shaikh Nasser keenly followed the race and his presence was a source of motivation for all the jockeys who took part in the event.
Shaikh Nasser said the endurance season has started on a brilliant note, thanks to the strong participation yesterday.
He also praised the exceptional organisation of the event and congratulated the jockeys for their solid showings.
Shaikh Isa praised Shaikh Nasser for his support and encouragement.
