It is hard not to take the bait on inflammatory or emotive posts on American politics in the GDN opinion page.
These arguments seem to be invading every media platform. Don’t people have enough family and friends to convince? Do we really need more?
I’m not sure if people in the US would appreciate their newspapers filled up with opinions about foreign domestic issues, and political in-fighting, as much as Americans want to fill foreign opinion pages.
Maybe we can be spared the time and aggravation by acknowledging in advance, how it will go: Optional ad hominem attacks on author of previous posts. (Contempt/praise) for (political party/candidate). (Spinning/rehashing) news stories. Comparisons to the past. Conclusion of being the winner of this argument.
Does this sound about right?
