A MEMORIAL service will be held for former St Christopher’s School music teacher Paul Bagshaw this weekend.
As reported in the GDN, the British expat died in the UK in October after a short illness.
He was 62.
The much-loved teacher and band leader from Lancashire taught at the school for more than 13 years.
As well as being a key member of the school’s music department he was pivotal in setting up the Big Band that has played all over Bahrain at various venues, and events aimed at raising funds for St Christopher’s Cathedral.
School principal Simon Watson described him as “the most talented flautist to have graced Bahrain”.
Before joining St Christopher’s School in 2005, Mr Bagshaw worked at the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra and the State Theatre in Pretoria, South Africa.
He was a Graduate of the Royal Schools of Music (GRSM) at the UK’s Royal College of Music.
The service will be held at the junior school hall in Saar on Saturday at 2pm.
Cathedral dean, the Very Reverend and Venerable Dr Bill Schwartz, said he would be taking part in the service.
“Paul’s history at the school makes it logical that most of the input in the different parts of the service will be from people from the school,” he said.
“Anyone can attend. We spoke about anticipating a big turnout and the school is prepared.”
