A BOOK compiling all the laws and legislation in support of the special needs community was launched on the sidelines of the weekly Shura Council meeting yesterday.
‘Legislation and Decisions Relating to People with Disabilities’ was launched by council chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh in the presence of officials, experts and specialists in the field as well as members of civil societies working with special needs people.
Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee chairwoman Dalal Al Zayed said the publication was the result of the “Working Together to Achieve Legislative Aspirations” conference along with efforts by the council to ensure all legislation is compiled in a single publication.
She also expressed pride in the achievements of people with disabilities in Bahrain.
The Conference Recommendations Committee, which she also chairs, will work towards implementing the recommendations, she added.
Meanwhile, council members yesterday approved the withdrawal of a proposal to amend sections under the 1976 Penal Code for further study by the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee while the council chairman also postponed discussion on the 2015 Commercial Registration Law for next week’s session.
