MANAMA: The Education Ministry has clarified the criteria which allows private schools to increase their fees.
Under regulations, private schools rated at least “Good” are allowed to apply once every three years and ask for a five per cent fee rise, said assistant under-secretary for private and adult education Jaffer Al Sheikh.
The same criteria also applies to private kindergartens, institutes and training centres.
The committee in charge of school fees studies applications and takes its decision, in accordance with the decree law 25 of 1998.
The approval of the school board and the parents’ council is also compulsory for schools applying for fee rises.
