In a candid reply to MPs, Bahrain's Health Minister opened up about receiving treatment for cancer.
Faeqa Al Saleh said during Parliament’s session today that she was diagnosed with cancer and underwent treatment in Bahrain.
She was speaking during a discussion on the number of cancer patients receiving treatment at Salmaniya Medical Complex.
During debate MP Mamdooh Al Saleh accused the Health Ministry of forcing cancer patients to sit in uncomfortable chairs for four to six hours while receiving chemotherapy.
"I will stand here and announce for the first time in public that I'm someone who suffered from cancer and I have recovered," replied Ms Al Saleh to a shocked and silent chamber.
"I have cancer and I'm living with it and it's not a deadly disease to all.
"I have recovered, Thank God, and I know for a fact how these patients feel."
