Pop singer Selena Gomez has collaborated with famous sports brand PUMA for its new advertisement.
However, the former Disney star raked up a controversy during its latest photoshoot - pictures from which are all over Twitter.
The photos circulating on social media show Selena standing and sitting on a pile of books for the ad campaign, which has enraged Twitter users who made their displeasure known in no uncertain terms.
Tweeple said that she will be “cursed” by the Goddess for stepping on the books.
Taking to the micro-blogging site, a user commented: “I am a librarian and now my eyes are burning.”
“She is gorgeous… but please get off those books”, added another.
A post read, “Please don’t disrespect books, knowledge is sacred, we are supposed to respect it!”
Several others slammed Selena for being "insensitive".

@PUMA Books in Hinduism are considered Goddess Saraswati and in Islam the very first verse of the Qur'an reads, “Among you the Most Generous is Who taught by the pen, taught man that which he knew not."
