BAHRAIN take on Palestine today at 5.30pm in the West Asia Under-18 Women’s Football Championship at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town.
Bahrain got off to a flying start in the championship beating Kuwait 4-1 in the opening Group ‘B’ match.
Seven teams are taking part in the event and they are divided into two groups with Group ‘A’ comprising Lebanon, Iraq, the UAE and Jordan, and Group ‘B’ consisting of hosts Bahrain, Palestine and Kuwait.
Laili Sabkar scored two goals in the 11th and 81st minutes while Al Anood Al Mannai accounted for the other two in the 46th and 75th minutes.
Munira Al Ragam scored Kuwait’s lone goal in the 86th minute.
Palestine also made a strong start beating Kuwait 7-0.
In the other two matches today, the UAE take on Jordan at 4.30pm while Lebanon and Iraq clash at 8.30pm.
Bahrain’s team director Shaikha Shikha bint Abdulrahman Al Khalifa said the match against Palestine ‘would be difficult’ but expressed confidence in the national squad putting up a spirited performance.
