A MAN who torched his friend’s car following a row over BD50 has been jailed for 12 months.
The 29-year-old Bahraini was found guilty of arson by the High Criminal Court.
He was also convicted of using a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
Believing one of his friends had stolen BD50 from him, the defendant torched the car, belonging to his friend’s 57-year-old Bahraini father, in Salmabad on May 12, 2018.
A medical report on a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation said the defendant did not suffer from any mental illnesses.
The defendant, who was released on guarantee of his place of residence in May last year after spending a year in custody, will not have to spend any more time behind bars.
