A parliamentary proposal to open shops at schools was rejected by the Northern Municipal Council.
During their meeting today, councillors said schools should be used for only educational and other related activities and not opening businesses.
"Education is being offered for free by the government and by law it covers everyone, so opening shops won’t push towards better quality education or development," said council chairman Ahmed Al Kooheji.
