A PROSTITUTE, who was deported from Bahrain, allegedly entered the country again by using her friend’s passport, a court heard.
The 24-year-old Russian woman is now standing trial for a second time, at the High Criminal Court.
She was arrested in September 2018, found guilty of prostitution by the Lower Criminal Court and deported.
However, three months later, in December 2018, she entered the country again after stealing her friend’s passport in the UAE.
She was arrested in November last year after authorities received information about her. The defendant denied the charges as she appeared at the High Criminal Court for her first hearing.
However, she previously told prosecutors she used her friend’s passport to enter the country illegally.
“What I am accused of is true,” she told prosecutors.
“I came to Bahrain on a visit visa in 2014, and worked as a prostitute in a hotel in Um Al Hassam.
“I was arrested in September 2018 and later deported, but I returned to Bahrain in December 2018 using my friend’s passport which I stole in the UAE.
“I stayed in a furnished apartment building in Bahrain where my Saudi friend would visit me regularly.
“But I was arrested on November 19, 2019 and my friend’s passport confiscated.”
A detective described how secret sources provided him with information about the Russian woman.
“I sent policewomen to the defendant’s apartment after I received information about her entering the country illegally,” the 30-year-old Bahraini said in his statement to prosecutors.
“The defendant then handed authorities the passport which she stole from her friend in the UAE.
“She was deported in connection with a prostitution case but managed to enter the country by using her friend’s passport.”
The trial has been adjourned until January 28 for a ruling.
