THE Cabinet yesterday hailed His Majesty King Hamad’s visit to Germany to get reassured about the health of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.
Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa chaired the weekly meeting.
“The meeting between the King and the Premier has a noble significance,” said Shaikh Mohammed, wishing the Premier full recovery to return to Bahrain in good health.
Ministers also praised the importance of the new state-of-the-art international exhibition and convention centre in bolstering Bahrain’s tourism and investment standing.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, laid the foundation stone for the new milestone, which reflects the growing exhibitions industry in Bahrain.
The Cabinet saluted Bahrain’s diplomatic strides and tangible achievements over the past decades.
It paid the tribute on the eve of Diplomatic Day, annually celebrated following an order by His Majesty King Hamad.
“The tribute recognises more than 50 years of diplomatic achievements and dedicated efforts to enhance Bahrain’s regional and international standing,” said Cabinet secretary general Dr Yasser Al Nasser.
A tribute was paid to the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman, who died a few days ago.
The Cabinet hailed his prolific legacy of landmark achievements which laid the foundations of wide-ranging development and prosperity.
It hailed the late Omani leader’s wise approach in supporting the GCC as well as Arab and Islamic Nations.
It wished the newly-enthroned Sultan Haitham bin Tariq success in pursuing the march of development and progress.
The Cabinet welcomed the ceasefire announced in Libya, hoping it will provide an opportunity to resume the political process and defuse tensions.
A draft edict regulating the disposal of financial penalties imposed on workers was given the go ahead.
Money generated through penalties will be spent on social, cultural and sports purposes benfiting workers of the establishment which was fined.
In case there is no trade union at the company, a special committee would be set up to oversee the spending of the money.
The second draft edict defines the rules and procedures to be followed for each level of collective negotiations.
The regulations and procedures would apply to negotiation mechanisms, whether on the level of the enterprise, the activity, industry, profession, or on the national level – in accordance with the conditions stipulated in the private sector labour law.
