Deepika Padukone's 'Chhapaak' has so far collected of Rs29.25 crore (around $4 million) at the box office.
The Meghna Gulzar directed film seems to have failed to attract the audience attention, even though the movie created a lot of buzz before its release.
The movie, based on a true story, shows the struggles of a young woman who is trying to rebuild her life after a man threw acid in her face.
Deepika turned a producer with this film. Some reports are attributing the low numbers to backlash over Deepika's Jawaharlal Nehru University visit, where she stood with the students after an attack on the campus. While some other reports said 'Chhapaak' didn’t get as wide a release as Ajay Devgn's period drama 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior'.
