THE first qualifying round of the Strongest GCC Man Championship commenced in Riyadh yesterday.
The main event will be held under the patronage of Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, first deputy chairman of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and president of Bahrain Olympic Committee, in April near Bahrain International Circuit.
The event is part of Shaikh Khalid’s sporting initiatives and the proceeds raised by the championship will be dedicated to cancer patients.
“This championship is in line with the vision of Shaikh Khalid and aims to enable sports to serve the youth in a way that enhances the bonds of brotherhood, love and communication and supports the relations between the people of the Gulf states,” said president of the Organising Committee and Director of Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Media Office Ahmed Al Shaikh.
