Bahrain: A car caught fire in Salmaniya Medical Complex’s (SMC) parking area outside the hereditary diseases unit.
A patient had left his vehicle improperly parked. Two cars parked nearby also caught fire, at about 5.45pm.
Hospital’s security and safety head Khalid Al Moraisil said fire extinguishers were used to put out the fire, which occurred during peak visiting hours.
The CID is investigating the incident.
No injuries or major damages were
reported.
The Interior Ministry last night confirmed that the fire was caused by two children, aged four and six, who were playing with a lighter left behind by their father as he left for treatment.
“The children were moved to safety before the fire could spread,” it said.
