A RECEPTION was held to honour the incoming commander of the Combined Task Force (CTF) 151 Rear Admiral Yoshiyasu Ishimaki of the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force.
Rear Adm Ishimaki will take over command from Kuwaiti Naval Force Captain Khaled AlKandari, who is currently heading the task force, on February 20.
The reception was hosted by Japanese Ambassador Hideki Ito at his residence in Barbar.
Those present included diplomats, members of the Combined Maritime Force (CMF) and guests.
CTF 151, which conducts anti-piracy operations, is one of the three task forces under the Bahrain-based CMF, a coalition of 33 nations.
The others are CTF 150, which conducts counter-terrorism and maritime security operations in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Oman including Strait of Hormuz, Bab Al Mandel and the Suez Canal; and CTF 152, which conducts maritime security operations in the Arabian Gulf.
