BAHRAIN International Circuit (BIC) is set to host an action-packed weekend with a pair of events that are sure to get every motorsport enthusiast’s adrenaline pumping.
Set to take place today is the Ebrahim K Kanoo Drag and Drift Nights, while on Saturday there will be an Open Track Day.
Both activities are amongst the most popular on offer to the public at “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”, as each allows participants a chance to bring their very own cars or motorbikes and push them to their limits within a safe and controlled environment.
In the Ebrahim K Kanoo Drag and Drift Nights, those who take part can either power their vehicles down BIC’s quarter-mile drag strip or test their oversteering and counter-steering skills while drifting around the circuit’s Vehicle Dynamics Area. They can even do both!
BIC’s drag strip is one of the best in the world. The circuit is a member of the prestigious National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Worldwide Network, and the strip is where some of the best record-breaking, globally renowned drag racers go head to head.
The Vehicle Dynamics Area is a specially configured venue at BIC’s car park and this is the venue for the drifting. It is surrounded by safety barriers and is the largest open tarmac area in Bahrain.
Registration begins at 5pm today and will be open until 9pm, while the action will be held from 6pm to 11pm.
Enjoyed
Both the drag and the drifting can be enjoyed for a single fee of BD10.500. Participation in just the drag racing or just the drifting costs BD7.500.
Registration can be done on site from 5pm, and action will be held from 6pm to 11pm. Those who would like to experience the drag or drift as a passenger can get into a participant’s car for an additional BD4. Spectators can purchase tickets for BD2 apiece.
Meanwhile, Open Track Day on Saturday will be held along BIC’s 5.412km Grand Prix Circuit – the same that will be raced on in a little over a month’s time by motor racing’s top drivers in the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.
The Open Track event is scheduled from 12noon until 7pm.
The cost to take part is BD89.500 for the full day and BD63 for a half day. There is also an option of a single session for BD26.500. Discounts are available for those who book in advance.
Also set to be held as part of the Open Track Day are the Jaguar Experience and passenger rides in a Renault Clio Cup car and Radical SR3 prototype.
