Muscat: Mwasalat announced that it has carried 1.1 million passengers since the launch of its operations on November 22 last year until the end of March this year.
Ruwi-Al Mubaila route carried the highest number of passengers with 580,000, followed by Ruwi-Wadi Al Kabir route with 393,000, and Ruwi- Wadi Uddy with 127,000.
Mwasalat said in a statement to Omani News Agency that the demand for the use of buses was higher than expected and the demand came from expatriates of various nationalities.
The company urged the public, especially the citizens to use public transport because of the economic benefits to individual and society in terms of reducing congestion, noise and harmful emissions.
It is worth mentioning that Mwasalat yesterday launched a new route linking Ruwi –Al A'mirat.
It will launch Ruwi-Muttrah-Muscat route in April and Al Khoudh-Sultan Qaboos University-Burj Al Sahwa later this year.
