LARA Nabil set up a title showdown against Leanne Sinocruz in the girls under-12 section of the 25th BBK Juniors Open Tennis Championship at the Bahrain Tennis Club in Juffair yesterday.
Lara had to work really hard to book a berth in the final as Anushree Padhi put up stiff resistance in both the sets.
But Lara proved her superiority sealing the match 6-3, 6-3.
The other semi-final, by comparison, was a tame affair as Leanne steamrolled past Yarah Aboumir without losing a game.
Hasim Al Toobli clashes with Zayn Siddiqi in the final of the boys under-12 section.
Battled
In the semi-finals yesterday, Hasim battled past Wenbo Lu 6-2, 6-4 while Zayn tamed Ritwik Bhat 6-0, 7-5.
In the boys under-14 section, Jaber Abdul Aal set up a mouth-watering title clash against Rohan Mukherjee.
Rohan had to put his best foot forward to tame a spirited Raj Singh as both battled it out right till the end.
Raj was too good in the first set wrapping it up 6-2, but Rohan proved a hard nut to crack as he fought back to win the second 7-5 and then put in his all into the tiebreaker to seal the match 10-7.
Jaber, on the other hand, scored a straight sets victory over Faris Al Toobli 6-4, 6-3.
The under-16 boys semi-finals were also tense affairs with both the matches going the distance.
In the first semi-final, Mohammed Al Khan edged out Ali Al Sharif in a thriller 6-4(4), 6-7, 10-8 while Mohammed Al Shehabi had to work equally hard in seeing off the challenge of Abdulla Nass in another three-set cliffhanger 6-3, 4-6, 10-7.
Meanwhile, Madison Mordecai booked a berth in the girls under-16 final beating Eira Gabrielle Corral in yet another close clash 6-4, 3-6, 10-8.
