THOUSANDS of books will be on display at a major literary and cultural festival which opens in Bahrain tomorrow.
The BKS International Bookfest 2020, hosted by the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam, will be held at its premises in Segaiya until February 29.
Along with the 10,000 books from a range of different genres the event will also bring together eminent personalities giving talks, holding panel discussions as well as live interaction sessions such as award-winning authors, leading politicians and media stalwarts.
The event also includes art exhibitions, children’s competitions, quiz contests for adults and children along with cultural events such as poetry recital, plays, classical dance performances, a story corner for children and music nights treating guests to the true taste of Indian literary and cultural flavour.
Also featured will be Indian cartoonist M Dileef who is hoping to break the record for the longest handwritten Quran which will eventually be 1,000 metres long.
He started his record-breaking attempt at last year’s Sharjah International Book Fair and is expected to complete it in Bahrain.
Among the guests expected to take part in the festival are Indian news anchor and author Rajdeep Sardesai, who is also the editor-in-chief of Global Broadcast News, and Indian National Congress and parliament member Jairam Ramesh who was also the former rural development minister.
Guests include Dr M K Muneer, Indian Union Muslim League secretary general and Kerala Legislative Assembly opposition leader who is also a social worker, singer, poet and author, and award-winning authors K R Meera, Shihabuddin Poythumkadavu and Subhash Chandran along with political party representative C K Padmanabhan and many other notable personalities.
