LIVE performances, inspirational speeches, culinary delights and much more have been lined up at the Ethiopian Business and Cultural Week being hosted in Bahrain next week.
The event is being organised by the Ethiopian honorary consulate in Bahrain in collaboration with the Ethiopian Embassy in Kuwait and features a fashion show, an art exhibition, live traditional Ethiopian music and a showcase of Ethiopian products.
The event, under the patronage of Foreign Ministry Under-Secretary Dr Shaikha Rana bint Isa Al Khalifa, will be held from February 26 to 29.
The highlight of the week will be celebrity chef Yohanis Gebreyesus presenting a live cooking demonstration at LuLu Hypermarket in Juffair on February 26, from 11am to 1pm.
The alumni of the Paul Bocuse Lyon Culinary Arts School in Ecully, France will also sign copies of his book surrounded by a range of Ethiopian products and to the tunes of live traditional Ethiopian music.
A grand opening gala dinner will also be held the same night at the Crowne Plaza Hotel from 6pm to 9pm to the accompaniment of a live performance by Kayn Lab Jazz group, a fashion show by internationally recognised designer Yefikir, and a specially prepared dinner by chef Yohanis featuring Bahraini and Ethiopian dishes.
Also present at the event will be globally acclaimed serial entrepreneur and SoleRebels Footwear founder and chief executive Bethlehem Tilahun Alemu who has been recognised by Forbes magazine as World’s 100 Most Power Women.
Speakers also include internationally-acclaimed motivational speaker and author Dr Mihret Debebe who is also the founder of MindSet as well as the founder of Mary Joy (NGO) Giving back to community sister Zebider Zewudie.
On February 27, Ms Alemu will be present at the Gulf Hotel from 8.30am to 2pm for a B2B and business forum discussion providing guests the opportunity to meet the woman who has changed the way the world enjoys shoes and leather.
An art exhibition showcasing Ethiopian art by Dawit Lemma Guya and a fashion show by Yefikir will be held on February 29 at the Capital Club from 4pm to 7pm.
