THE Bahraini youth team last night stormed into the quarter-finals of the Under-20 Arab Cup beating Djibouti 2-0 in their last group match in Riyadh.
With last night’s victory, Bahrain moved to six points to finish second in their group, behind Morocco who topped with an unbeaten record and nine points.
Jawad Alawi put Bahrain ahead in the 35th minute while Hussein Abdulaziz doubled the lead five minutes later.
Djibouti pulled out back through Suhaib Ibrahim in the 60th minute but Bahrain held on for a deserving victory.
Apart from Bahrain and Morocco, Tunisia, Iraq and Libya have also qualified for the quarter-finals while three more spots are still at stake.
