SEVERAL major events have been cancelled or postponed for health and safety reasons.
The 16th edition of the Bahrain International Garden Show 2020 which was scheduled to start on Tuesday has been postponed to next year.
“The decision was taken based on Bahrain’s deep sense of responsibility in dealing with the fast-paced developments and the kingdom’s particular keenness on the health and well-being of citizens and residents amid efforts to tackle the coronavirus (Covid-19) across the globe,” the National Initiative for Agricultural Development said in a statement yesterday.
“The decision is also in line with the instructions of the National Disaster Management Committee to postpone activities and events in order to support the kingdom’s efforts in this regard.”
The Streat Food Festival, organised by Ayadi Relief, which was supposed to start today has also been postponed.

The Indian Community Relief Fund (ICRF) has cancelled its annual Winter Festival event which was supposed to be held tomorrow at the Indian Club in co-operation with the Labour Market Regulatory Authority.
A new date will be announced soon, said ICRF chairman Aruldas Thomas.
The Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam has also decided to postpone its cultural and interactive sessions with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, the album launch event for Bahraini metal band Smouldering Forgotten which was supposed to be held tomorrow has been postponed until further notice, according to organiser Metal Fest.
“Metal Fest will be back in the near future so please accept our apologies and stay tuned,” it said in a statement.
