Nine more people have recovered from the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) in Bahrain bringing the total number of discharged to 44.
The new recovered batch includes one male and six females (Bahrainis), an Egyptian female and one Thai female, said the Health Ministry.
They were discharged from the isolation centre after responding positively to the medical care provided by a specialised medical team, conforming with measures outlined by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
“All individuals have undergone extensive medical testing to ensure their full recovery from the virus before being discharged, and they will continue to be monitored,” said the Ministry.
Meanwhile, four more cases were added to the number of people tested positive among those who returned from Iran under the ministry’s International Covid-19 Repatriation Programme (ICRP).
The Ministry said they were in quarantine facilities, and have now been moved to isolation and treatment centres.
According to the ministry’s website dedicated to Covid-19, a total of 9,528 cases were tested in Bahrain, of which 9,362 were negative.
Currently there are 83 active cases and another 83 under the ICRP.
Two active cases are critical.
A total of 65 active cases contracted the virus from abroad and 18, who came in close contact with those who arrived from abroad.
The ministry added there were no local cases.
The ministry continues to urge all individuals returning from Italy, South Korea, Egypt or Lebanon in the past two weeks to self-isolate for 14 days, and schedule their mandatory medical examinations by contacting hotline number 444.
Meanwhile, Bahrain was ranked at the top among several countries including the US to have conducted more than 4,000 tests per million of their population for Covid-19.
Bahrain conducted the tests for 4,910 followed by South Korea with 4, 099, according to business data online platform, Statista.
The US was highlighted as lagging far behind with just 26 tests done.
