Manama: Sixteen more people have recovered from coronavirus (Covid-19) in Bahrain, taking the total number of confirmed recoveries to 60.
The Health Ministry announced yesterday that the recovered individuals – eight Bahraini men, three Bahraini women, two Saudi men, one Egyptian man, one Moroccan woman and one Greek man – have been discharged from the isolation centre after responding positively to the medical care provided by a specialised medical team, conforming with measures outlined by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

However, it highlighted that all the individuals have undergone extensive medical testing to ensure their full recovery from the virus before being discharged, and will continue to be monitored post discharge.
The total number of active cases now stands at 67, of which 65 are stable and two remain critical.
Of the total active cases, 49 are people arriving from abroad while 18 are contacts of arrivals from abroad.
The ministry also urged all individuals returning from Italy, South Korea, Egypt or Lebanon in the past two weeks to self-isolate for 14 days, avoid contact with others, and schedule their mandatory medical examinations by contacting hotline number 444 or visiting the ministry’s website.
Meanwhile, one more case has been added to the International Covid-19 Repatriation Programme, taking the total number of positively-tested cases to 84.
All are in stable condition, according to the ministry’s webpage dedicated to Covid-19.
The ministry separately announced that 24 individuals have been discharged after completing the mandatory 14-day quarantine period, bringing the total number of individuals discharged from quarantine to 139.
It emphasised that the 20 Bahraini men, three Bahraini women and a Korean female tested negative for the virus before being discharged.
It noted that all quarantined individuals are being monitored and cared for by a specialised medical team, in line with guidelines established by the WHO, to guarantee the containment of the virus and to preserve the health and safety of the community.
Meanwhile, work to disinfect Bahrain’s courts in the Diplomatic Area was carried out yesterday.
